MEDIA REVIEWS

“SOWETO ENTSHA”,a smart click a cappella four-piece  who reached a global audience last year performing at the at the World Cup Opening Ceremony, are distinct from the other African music shows that have stormed The Fringe in recent years in that they freely blend western pop elements of the male vocal harmony tradition into their performance, making for a diverse set withdraws on the vibrancy of 1950’s doo-wop,the all-singing, all-dancing presentation of the 1960’s soul groups and the more saccharine tendencies of the modern R&B outfits as much as the soft ,healing invocations and exhilarating spirit of their own tribal cultures.
In any case, their four singing is simply exquisite. Some context regarding their repertoire would have been nice though. If their English languages songs are any barometer, “Soweto Entsha” are big on heart swelling messages of solidarity and spirituality.”

FIONA SHEPHERED,THE SCOTMAN ,Aug 2011

We have had the privilege of working with “Africa Entsha” over past six weeks accompanying them on many performances such as Night and Day Cafe(Manchester),The International Eisteddfod Music Festival (Wales) & The Llangollen Fringe Festival(Wales),as well as performances at many schools, churches and even night clubs! All who have met them, young and old have been touched their talent and personalities. As well as being a world music and gospel phenomenon, they truly are a pop sensation.
DAMON HORRIL, Pollen8 Productions, July2012

In a music market saturated with cloned bubblegum pop and industry-peddled garbage, AFRICA ENTSHA are welcome breath of fresh air. It’s difficult to encapsulate just how ridiculously joyful you are likely to feel when you hear them sing their live a cappella numbers...you can’t bottle this stuff. Writing about their homeland, blessings and feeling good in general, their music is infectious in the loveliest way possible. Using their voices to mimic percussion and bass is utterly incredible and their harmonies are so tight, you can’t help but laugh at the sheer brilliance of it all. These boys are going to be massive. Stop reading this review and go and see yourself. Absolutely first class.”
